Stamping is a sheet metal forming process that can be used to manufacturer heat sinks or thermal management module. Because it is lightweight and requires no moving parts, the heat pipe assembly on a stamping part is a highly reliable, passive thermal solution with a virtually unlimited operational life. The overall thickness is typically less than 3 mm, and usually is made of sheet aluminum of 1mm thick or less. The average weight of stamping heat pipe assembly is under 100 grams. The heat sink fins for Pipe-Thru-Fins assembly is also made by stamping method.
